Dear Member & Friends

The cover is coming in the best I’ve seen in the last 6 years. The hunt reservation book is ready and we are starting to book events for the upcoming season.  Remember the early worm gets the bird!  It is never too early to sign up for the club hunts or specials on the calendar of events.  I made two mistakes in the last newsletter, I know it’s hard to believe, but it happens more the older I get.  First of all the Super Pheasant Hunt booked for October 4^th and 5^th was supposed to be $235.00 per hunter not $375.00 per hunter as written.  The other mistake was on the Calendar of Events.  The End of the Season Hunt was set up for April 10^th, 11^th, & 12^th.  Unfortunately the 12^th of April is Easter Sunday, and we will be closed.  We are changing the dates on this hunt to April 9^th, 10^th,and 11^th (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday).  Saturday the 11^th will be the last day of hunting.  Please make these changes on your events calendar and we look forward to seeing you soon.  If you are receiving this newsletter and you specifically requested it through email, we have an incorrect email address for you.  If you want to receive the wild wings newsletter via email please send your email address to jeff@wildwingsofoneka.com. 

CLAYS LEAGUE

Our fall sporting clays league is scheduled to fire up on Wednesday the 20^th of August.  We will be open on Wednesday and Thursday until the 30^th of August.  After this time we will be open every day except Monday.  We have some teams scheduled to shoot already.  Both of the clays courses will be new for this year.  I have shot them and can tell you that they are challenging, but a lot of fun.  We hope you can join us for some fun shooting, and we guarantee it will make you a better shot.  Signup sheets are available at our web page wildwingsofgoneka.com.

DOG DAYS

Ever wonder why they call August the Dog Days of Summer.  Simple: this is the time of year you should be working your dog to get him ready for the upcoming season.  Here are a couple of tips.  First of all make sure you and your dog are properly protected from ticks.  They can be real killers for humans and dogs.  Secondly make sure to stay cool.  This includes drinking water and keeping cool.  On really hot days it is best to just work the dog in water only.  Dogs need to be in shape going into the hunting season if not they can develop a condition known as hypoglycemia.   Don’t try to take a dog that is out of shape hunting.

 MEMBERSHIP CARDS

You will not be receiving your membership cards in the mail as usual.  This year we will be handing you your card when you come to the club for the first time.  Included with your card we will have a new liability waiver for all members to sign, and a contact information sheet to update.  You may have to remind us to give you the card on the first visit.  They say the memory is the first thing to go – I can’t remember what’s next!

SUPER PHEASANT HUNT

Once again I apologize for the mistake in the last newsletter.  This all rooster 40 bird hunt, that includes guide and dog, all bird cleaning, and my famous brats on the grill at the clubhouse is only $235.00 / hunter (based on a 4 man field).  This hunt includes all the fun you can have and is the only all rooster hunt for the year.  This hunt will take place on October 4^th, and 5^th.  Call soon for reservations!

CLAYS MEMBERSHIP

We have sold about 10 clays memberships already.  We will have a limited number of these memberships available for this year’s trial basis.  If you know anyone interested have them call the club.

NEW BOOK KEEPER

 After almost 20 years we had to say goodbye to Carol Reuter our book keeper.  Carol will be missed but never forgotten, she will always be part of the Wild Wings family.  Our new Finance Person is Nikki Walters.  Nikki is a neighbor on the north side of Antlers Pass, and she is also the daughter of one of our guides (Tom Bidon).  We hope you will join us in welcoming her to the crew.
